C3 & HCC Human Resources Fellowship

Fellowship Description

C3 and HCC are offering a unique opportunity for a graduate of a master’s program seeking to increase health equity and become a health leader. The fellow should be interested in pursuing a career in the organizational development career track while advancing health equity and community health within underserved communities. Qualified candidates for the fellowship will have completed the master’s degree requirements in one or more of the following fields of study or similar related degree programs by the start of the fellowship in June 2025:

  • Organizational development
  • Industrial-organizational psychology
  • Social-organizational psychology
  • Organizational sciences
  • Organizational dynamics
  • Human resources management
  • Leadership and organizational behavior
  • Business administration
  • Health administration

Fellowship Summary

The one-year fellowship is designed to provide an emerging leader, who is interested in pursuing a leadership role in organizational development, with essential project management, training, and opportunities to cultivate an organizational culture that fosters racial and social justice among staff and within the populations served. The fellow will gain in-depth experience working in a leading innovative forward-thinking non-profit environment.

The fellow will be mentored by senior leadership at C3 and will have the opportunity to partner with various business units to promote a culture of inclusivity, learning, and professional development. In addition, the fellow will support projects and gain mastery experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Organizational change management
  • Planning and implementing leadership development and coaching programs
  • Workforce engagement and culture-building initiatives
  • Implementing practices to address systemic inequities within organizations

The goal is to prepare the fellow for a future leadership role at C3 or a similar organization.

What is Community Care Cooperative (C3)?

Community Care Cooperative (C3) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Accountable Care Organization (ACO) governed by Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Our mission is to leverage the collective strengths of FQHCs to improve the health and wellness of the people we serve. We are a fast-growing organization founded in 2016 with 9 health centers and now serves hundreds of thousands of Medicaid beneficiaries who receive primary care at health centers and independent practices across Massachusetts. We are an innovative organization developing new partnerships and programs to improve the health of members and communities, and to strengthen our health center partners.

In 2020, C3 made a commitment to address systemic racism as an intentional component of our strategic plan. A Diversity, Equity, and Racial Justice (DERJ) Statement for the organization was developed and a DERJ Committee was formed to develop a 3-year plan for the work. This work spans all departments at C3.

What is Health Career Connection (HCC)?

HCC is a 501(c) (3) national non-profit that inspires, empowers and professionally prepares the next generation of health leaders. For 34 years HCC has supported students, to gain real world exposure, experience, mentoring, and networking, while supporting health employers’ workforce, and priority initiatives. There are 11 HCC regions nationwide and 5400 HCC alumni.

HCC has been in the Boston area for over 22 years and has developed strong partnerships with numerous local healthcare employers. HCC has partnered with C3 for 5 years to offer opportunities for students to work on health care administration and community health in Boston.

HCC & C3 Joint Venture

While the fellowship is open to all graduate students who recently graduated or will be graduating from a graduate school program, HCC encourages, first-generation students and those with challenged backgrounds to apply for this fellowship as well as students from under resourced rural and urban communities and those seeking to advance health equity.

 

Project Opportunities

C3 seeks a fellow with a strong interest in organizational development and social justice to assist with organization-wide initiatives. The fellow will work within various departments at C3 and assist with projects aimed at achieving a learning and inclusive organizational culture and strategic goals. The fellow should have project management skills and will be deployed to provide project management support on key C3 initiatives. In addition, the fellow will mentor undergraduate HCC interns over the summer of 2025.

Potential Areas of Work

  • Assist in the design, development, and delivery of comprehensive staff training programs that align with organizational goals and foster professional growth.
  • Support the implementation of the leadership development program.
  • Collaborate on initiatives aimed at increasing staff engagement and satisfaction.
  • Facilitate and co-deliver training sessions.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategies to foster an inclusive and equitable workplace culture, including supporting diversity, equity, and racial justice initiatives.
  • Help conduct assessments to evaluate training effectiveness, leadership program outcomes, and staff engagement efforts, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner with HR and management teams to identify organizational development needs and recommend tailored solutions to enhance performance and morale.

Pay scale – $65,000-$70,000 annually + benefits 

Length of Fellowship – Full Time- 12 months from June 2025 to May 2026. There is some flexibility regarding the start date.

Office Location – 75 Federal Street, 7th Floor, Boston MA 02110. C3 is currently operating in a hybrid model of a mix of in-person office time and remote work. The fellow will need to be located in the Boston area and be able to come into the C 3 Boston office 2-3 times a week or more if needed. This number of days in person is subject to change. C3 policy requires COVID-19 vaccination for all employees who are in person.
